As Tiny Treasures is 100% realiant on the kind donations of people across the UK we are always looking for new knitters or crocheters who may be able to make items for us. We accept all sorts of items including hats, cardigans, dresses/gowns, booties, mittens, blankets, teddies etc.

My name is Jess and I started Tiny Treasures on 29th May 2015. Our aim is to provide handmade items of clothing and toys to hospitals across the UK. These items will be used in the hospitals for babies who are premature, are in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) or who have sadly passed away.

Over 60,000 premature babies are born in the UK every year - that is at least 165 every single day. These babies need alot of specialist care and have very specific requirements. Often babies in the Neonatal ward or in Neonatal Intensive Care do not wear anything other than a nappy and a hat. As alot of premature babies are unable to regulate their own temperature the hats are essential to be able to keep heat inside the babies body. Hospitals understandably have very strict Infection Control procedures in order to keep infections to a minimum so because of this each department will go through many hats at one time - so we can never have too many hats!
